A very long two years

A year and a half ago, I took my kids to New York for spring break. It was months into Trump‘s second term and I remember the horrible feeling. Was this the turning point? There were all sorts of ominous signs, appointments of horrible people, and rhetoric that made my skin crawl. But I remember driving up along the Hudson and looking out into the tree covered hills, and thinking, hoping, this country is too vast, he is just one small petty man, we will tire of him. Driving through the Canyons of the city, I had the same thought. The only power he has is what we give him. That was my hope, but I did not feel certain. Two years on, a midterm complete and my hope is somewhat restored. Waking up yesterday, a familiar weight on my chest seemed to have lifted.

We have an generational opportunity to right the ship. Let’s not blow it.
